First Pony Ride

When we woke up on Sunday and saw that the weather was going to be nice, we decided to take an impromptu trip to the racetrack to see the horses.  It was again Family Day there so in addition to the horse racing, there were kids activities like a petting zoo, a bounce house, face painting and pony rides.  Last year, Eliel didn't really want to go on the ponies but this year he was so excited to try it! He was grinning from ear to ear as Daddy placed him on the horse the first time.  I wish I would have taken a movie of him as the ponies went around in circles.  He had a huge grin on his face the entire time and seemed positively giddy to be riding.  He was so excited that we rode a pony twice.  The last time, which is pictured, he got to ride a pony named 'Pickles' which he thought was pretty funny.  Based on this experience, I'm sure we'll be doing many more pony rides!
In between riding ponies and petting the animals at the petting zoo, we also watched the horses race and Daddy placed some bets.  One of Eliel's favorite things to do is to listen and watch the trumpeter call the riders to post.  He also likes to watch the horses as they come out to the track.

We stayed for all eight races and after having all that fun, I think we all needed a nap after returning home!
